Setup guide

Install your eSIM
in under 2 minutes

Detailed steps for iPhone and Android, a manual install option, and fixes for the errors people actually hit.

Before you start

Install over Wi-Fi, before you travel — some steps need an active internet connection. Not sure your device supports eSIM? Check the compatible devices list first.

1

Open Settings → Cellular (or Mobile Data)

On iOS 17 and earlier this may be labeled "Cellular"; on iOS 18+ it's "Mobile Data" in some regions. Either way, tap Add eSIM.

2

Tap "Use QR Code"

Point your camera at the QR code from your Airhoi confirmation email. If you're viewing the email on the same phone, take a screenshot first and use "Enter Details Manually" instead — a phone can't usually scan its own screen.

3

Confirm and label the plan

iOS will ask you to confirm. Give it a label like "Japan Trip" so it's easy to tell apart from your home line later.

4

Set cellular plan preferences

You'll be asked which line to use for Cellular Data — choose your new Airhoi eSIM. Keep Default Voice Line set to your home SIM so calls and texts still work as normal. Turn on Data Roaming for the Airhoi line.

5

You're set

The eSIM stays installed but inactive until your phone connects to a supported network at your destination — that's when your plan's validity period starts.

Can't scan a QR code?

Every Airhoi confirmation email also includes the SM-DP+ address and activation code as plain text — useful if your camera can't focus, or you're installing from the same device the email is on. Choose "Enter details manually" at the eSIM install step, and enter both values exactly as shown in your email.
